And then…we finally said goodbye to the Boob Light!
Once the painting started, there was no ignoring it anymore. That old builder fixture somehow looked even worse against fresh walls—like it was actively resisting the update. With ceilings this tall and an entryway this open, it was clear the space needed something with a little more presence.

Our entryway before and after a lighting update — new paint, new fixture, and a much warmer feel.
Before: What Wasn’t Working
For years, our entryway was lit by what we jokingly called the boob light—a classic builder fixture that technically worked, but brought zero personality to the space. It felt dated, underwhelming, and completely wrong for such a tall, open entryway. We knew a lighting change would make a big impact, but it took us a while to finally pull the trigger.
The Lighting Upgrade
Once the walls were freshly painted, that old boob light really started to stand out—and not in a good way. With such a tall ceiling and open entryway, the space was begging for something with a little more presence. We wanted a fixture that felt substantial, warm, and welcoming, without going too formal or overdone.
This farmhouse-style wagon wheel chandelier checked all the boxes. The wood tones add warmth, the open design keeps the space feeling airy, and the scale finally matches the height of the room. The difference was immediate—suddenly the entryway feels intentional, cozy, and like a true first impression instead of an afterthought.

A Warmer First Impression
The difference was immediate. The new fixture brings warmth, scale, and personality to the space—finally matching the height of the ceilings and the openness of the entryway. The wood tones soften everything, the open design keeps it feeling airy, and instead of fading into the background, the light now feels intentional.
It’s one of those changes that quietly transforms how the whole space feels the moment you walk in.
The Final Result
Swapping out the old builder light for a statement fixture completely changed how our entryway feels. What was once forgettable now feels intentional, warm, and welcoming — the kind of first impression we always wanted. Sometimes one thoughtful change really is all it takes.
